Well tonight was the special night guys! How was the episode? Did you enjoy the opening of the doors to season 10, or was it too hyped up? I'd like to hear what you all think about it.
I know I did polls last year for what you all thought but I would really like to hear from you all personally, anything you disliked immensely, or are uncertain of? Or maybe you really LOVED something? Let us all know! Join in on the discussion, I don't bite.
[Poll #1984738]
However, here is a write in poll because I'm REALLY curious to know, what are your top three episodes of season 9? I'd like to hear why to, but if you don't want to you don't have too. For anyone wondering, mine are: I Think I'm Gonna Like it Here, Dog Dean Afternoon, The Purge (Thinman comes in a close second)
Here's why, the starting episode to season 9 was really great. I loved the emotional stuff and the little trip we did inside Sam's head. We don't get to see that often and it was refreshing to see Dean fighting for his brother (no pitchforks now) but I liked seeing Dean get pissed at Sam's lack of will to live. Dog Dean Afternoon was funny for sure, and maybe a little lame but it made me smile and we got a lot of great brother moments in the episode. The tenderness and care for which Dean checked Sam was heartwrenching and sorely missed the more we got into the season. The Purge was also comedic but a really crucial episode because Sam and Dean had a REALLY important talk that I think Dean needed to hear and Sam needed to say. Others might site this as the start of the brother drama but I think these conversations need to happen in order for the brother's to function and remain intact.
Alternatively, I didn't quite like the serious episodes. I understand the mark changed Dean but watching as he spiraled into a very dark, horrible representation of what he used to be was a bit difficult to swallow. I couldn't watch as he degraded Sam on a really harsh level. However, as we see this has been happening for a while before he took the mark and this progression is what we saw in Black and will continue to see until the storylines play out. So without further ado, here is season 10.
So, first based reaction after the episode this is what I thought: It was something new.
Let me elaborate that; it felt fresh. This is a whole new game changer, with Dean being a demon. I mean, we've faced premieres with the brothers split apart but we all know they always come back together, but as the ending of this episode has shown, everything is turned on its head.
Demon Dean is care free, much like souless Sam, but with the mark still tied to him he's ruthless and cold. Crowley attempting to control him is laughable. He's not to be controlled, I guess Crowley didn't even realize quite the force Dean would become.
His attempts at hurting Sam may have worked but his attempt at telling Dean what to do won't work.
I thought the episode was rather slow, however, nothing was really fast paced which I guess is understandable given they need to set the new boundaries.
However, maybe the Pat Benatar opener got me really pumped *sheepish grin*
Sam, poor Sam. He's barely holding it together. It's aluded to that an accident happened with Castiel where a demon hurt his shouldr. Cas is falling apart, slowly becoming sicker and sicker. He can't even control heaven anymore due to his illness and his experience with human emotions. By the way, I am attemtpting to remain light hearted about the angels but I already felt dread at hearing about 'conflict in heaven'.
Why do the writer assume that is relevant or enjoyable to watch? No one wants to see Castiel attempt at controlling heaven and failing in some way but still being proclared a 'savior' or whatever the other angels think. It's annoying and such bullshit we all can spot it from a mile away.
I only hope that his storyline leads elsewhere otherwise it'll be another snooze fest whenever he's on screen.
This Cole guy is interesting, he spoke so softly to Sam I couldn't quite hear what he said. He looks a bit like Jeremy Renner lol
I've seen on tumblr where some are upset with the tied!up Sam and his inability to see that something wasn't right under the hood. But let's be real here.
1. In Fresh Blood Sam barely knew the parts of the Impala. He may have stolen and hotwired cars but let's face it, cars are Dean's buisness and they always have been, not Sam's. Cole mentioned it was a new car and given the Impala is in fact not it's not out of character for Sam to assume nothing out of the ordinary.
2. Sam is exhausted! He's been searching for his brother with an injured shoulder non-stop. He has no help. Bobby is dead. Castiel is busy and sick. He doesn't have anyone on his side and with Crowley trying to lead Dean along things aren't easy for him. His head isn't in the game. He's focused on getting his brother back.
I will admit it was a bit disturbing to hear Sam proclaim to Cole that Dean was a monster so soon. However, I find it believable. He doesn't know what Crowley did. He thought Dean was posessed but I think Crowley revealed it's worse than that. He watched Dean murder someone.
That's not something you take lightly or get around, besides, his conversation with Cas sort of showed that in his heart he believed Dean was dead or something way worse.
Despite Dean being a demon now, he stills has an interest in Sam. There is a deep dark pit in there that perks at Sam's name. Does he still care for Sam? Or is it just a posessive thing one would have to a useless plaything? Who really knows right now.
Cole, however seemed quite shocked at the turn of events of his little game.
So that leaves us with this:
What does Cole want? What did Dean do? What is Crowley's plan with Dean? Does he really want a sidekick for hell, or are thier ulterior motives? See you next week to find out!

Date: 2014-10-08 02:43 am (UTC)Onto S10... Well basically a big "ditto" to everything you said. I'm glad you brought up Demon Dean and the sort of resemblance to Soulless Sam, though with the Mark there's that cold, ruthlessness.
And thank you so much for mentioning why it works that Sam not seeing that something wasn't right under the good of that car. It totally makes sense (I haven't been to tumbler yet to see what people were saying, but it can just imagine...geesh).
I'm actually a bit confused about the promo for next week. I was under the impression that Dean and Sam weren't going to meet up until episode 3. Unless they do cross paths in next week's very briefly and then Dean goes back to him in the next one (or Sam manages to capture him at the end of 2 and Dean tries to escape the bunker in 3)? Sorry, I'm just thinking out loud here...

Date: 2014-10-08 04:21 pm (UTC)I love, love LOVE when they show Sam using his smarts. Of course Crowley found him out, but only after the fact. He was too busy gloating to Sam to realize what Sam was doing. Never underestimate Sam Winchester

I just wanted to ask you how long as Dean been a demon? Was another time skip? How did Sam get away from that other guy?
Poor Sam though I can't wait for Demon Dean and Sam to come face to face.

Date: 2014-10-08 11:36 pm (UTC)Dean has been a demon for about 6 months I think? I believe that is what everyone is saying but I could be wrong. Sam hasn't gotten away from the other hunter, however, that was left on a cliffhanger so I don't know.
